MOVEMENT is energy.
The greatest source of energy around us is the SUN. Without the Sun, there is no movement.
And at the center of the Sun is the most important muscle – the HEART, which is also the most important muscle within each of us.
The Sun and the Heart symbolize strength, life, hope, courage, and unity. They remind us that every child and every young person carries an inner light and the power of the heart – even in the darkest and most challenging times.
I want to emphasize especially the rights of children. Every child has the right to move, to play, to learn, to grow, and to feel that they belong to a community. Every child has the right to hope. Physical education is not only about sport – it is about well-being, mental health, inclusion, equality, and safe adults standing beside children. It is about creating spaces where children feel valued, protected, and heard.
For this reason, each cooperating physical education club will have its own club emblem. The children and young people of each club, together with their teachers, instructors, and coaches, will design their own symbol.
When a child is allowed to participate, their voice is heard.
When a young person can influence decisions, their courage grows.
When a community creates together, belonging becomes stronger.
And belonging creates resilience. Resilience creates hope. Hope builds the future.
This is exactly what every Ukrainian child and young person needs in these painful and challenging circumstances: strength, connection, dignity, and belief in tomorrow.

HISTORY IS WRITTEN THROUGH COURAGE – FOR THE CHILDREN
The birth of the European Children & Youth Physical Education Academy – (E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy) ry does not take place in easy circumstances. On the contrary. This organization is founded at a time when war is being fought in Europe, and when the children of Ukraine are paying the heaviest price of all.
This text is meant as encouragement and a reminder to all of us – the Board of the association, future divisions, and councils – of why we exist and why our work is not only important, but absolutely necessary.
The Reality of Ukrainian Children Today
In Ukraine, children are living in a state of constant uncertainty.
Repeated Russian missile and drone attacks are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure:
schools, hospitals, kindergartens, sports facilities, and homes.
This is not accidental. It is a deliberate strategy to break civilian life, families, and children – to destroy the future before it has even had the chance to begin.
Why Physical Education Is Resistance
Physical education is not just movement.
It is a right. It is protection. It is hope.

The E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry was founded through courage. The courage to say out loud that:

One day, this blog text may be read as part of history.
At a time when it would have been easier to look away – we chose to act.
We chose to defend children.
We chose to believe in the power of physical education.
We chose to build an organization that refuses to remain silent in the face of war.
This is a call to every Board member, every division, and every council:
you are not alone, and your work truly matters.
The children of Ukraine deserve a future.
Our responsibility is to help keep that future alive.

The Reality of Ukrainian Children Today
In Ukraine, children are living in a state of constant uncertainty.
Repeated Russian missile and drone attacks are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure:
schools, hospitals, kindergartens, sports facilities, and homes.
- Thousands of schools have been damaged or completely destroyed.
- Hospitals have been bombed, and children’s healthcare systems are operating at the very limits of endurance.
- Heating systems and energy infrastructure are being systematically attacked.
- In freezing winter conditions, families are forced to live without electricity, without warm water, and often without safe shelter.
This is not accidental. It is a deliberate strategy to break civilian life, families, and children – to destroy the future before it has even had the chance to begin.
Why Physical Education Is Resistance
Physical education is not just movement.
It is a right. It is protection. It is hope.
Physical education work in the middle of war:
- helps children process trauma and fear,
- strengthens both body and mind,
- builds community and a sense of safety,
- gives children back moments where they are allowed to simply be children.
The Courage to Establish a New Organization
The E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry was founded through courage. The courage to say out loud that:
- children’s rights do not disappear in war,
- physical education is a powerful tool for peace,
- Europe carries a responsibility for the children of Ukraine.
- deliver concrete support to schools and sports clubs,
- provide sports equipment and educational materials,
- launch physical education clubs and programs,
- support local teachers, instructors, and coaches working under extreme conditions.
