EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT – 30th Anniversary Celebration
Children’s Sports Day, 21 August 2025 – Mykolaiv Central Stadium, Ukraine
The EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project celebrated its 30th anniversary on 21 August 2025 by organizing, in cooperation with GO FLAMO and the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy (C.Y.P.E.-Academy), a large-scale Children’s Sports Day at the Mykolaiv Central Stadium in southern Ukraine.
The event was held in the midst of war, in a region where children and young people have lived for a long time under constant uncertainty, the threat of violence, and prolonged emergency conditions.
Content and Significance of the Children’s Sports Day
At the heart of the anniversary celebration was the fundamental right of children to move, play, and experience joy – even in the middle of war. The stadium was filled with children, youth, teachers, and instructors. Throughout the day, a wide range of athletics-based physical activities were organized, all carefully designed to be safe, inclusive, and community-building.
The significance of the event for children in the region was exceptional:
E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy is the only comprehensive organization in Europe dedicated to implementing and developing the mental and physical well-being of children and youth through physical education and sports-based educational work.
Peacebuilding Through Physical EducationThe Children’s Sports Day strongly demonstrated that physical education is a powerful instrument of peacebuilding. In conflict zones, sport and movement are not merely recreational activities – they are tools for healing, resilience, dialogue, and non-violence.
By bringing children together in a safe and structured environment, the event promoted:
Political and Societal SignificanceIt is particularly significant that the current government and its governing coalition were actively involved in the planning and operational implementation of the event, in cooperation with international and local partners. This demonstrated a clear political commitment to:
A Symbolic 30th AnniversaryThe 30th anniversary of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project was not merely a celebration of longevity, but a strong moral and humanitarian statement:
The Children’s Sports Day held at the Mykolaiv Central Stadium on 21 August 2025 remains a lasting symbol of hope, courage, humanity, and peacebuilding in a region where these values are needed most.

The significance of the event for children in the region was exceptional:
- It provided a moment of normality and safety in the middle of armed conflict.
- Through physical education and shared activities, children were given the opportunity to release stress and fear, strengthen their self-esteem, and experience a sense of belonging.
- The day served as a concrete reminder that children have not been forgotten, and that their rights to education, physical activity, and well-being remain valid even in conflict zones.
- The event became a powerful symbol of hope and belief in the future for children and families in the Mykolaiv region.
- peaceful interaction instead of fear,
- cooperation instead of division,
- and hope instead of despair.
Political and Societal SignificanceIt is particularly significant that the current government and its governing coalition were actively involved in the planning and operational implementation of the event, in cooperation with international and local partners. - supporting children’s rights and well-being in the midst of war,
- strengthening the role of physical education and education in crisis situations, and
- promoting societal resilience and post-war recovery through children’s and youth physical education work.
A Symbolic 30th AnniversaryThe 30th anniversary of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project was not merely a celebration of longevity, but a strong moral and humanitarian statement:
- every child matters,
- physical education is a tool for peace,
- and children’s rights must be defended with courage, even in the midst of war and violence.
