 4. Why Funding Is Urgently Needed ?

Children and young people in war-affected regions do not only need emergency assistance. They also need long-term support that helps them recover physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
Funding is needed to support:
  • Children & Youth physical education events
  • family physical education events
  • Cooperate FAIR PLAY Team physical education clubs
  • Children & youth activities
  • special needs groups events, clubs and materials
  • sports and movement-based recovery activities
  • material support cooperate MoU partners
  • equipment and clothing cooperate MoU partners
  • safe community activities
  • reconstruction-related support cooperate MoU partners
  • educational cooperation
  • project coordination
  • international cooperation
  • future EU project preparation
Without stable funding, the project’s ability to continue and expand is limited, even though the need in Ukraine is urgent and long-term.
 5. Children’s Rights as the Foundation

The project is strongly based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Every child has the right to:
  • safety
  • education
  • physical activity
  • play
  • wellbeing
  • inclusion
  • dignity
  • protection
  • and hope for the future
In war-affected areas, these rights are often seriously threatened. Physical education work can help protect these rights by creating safe spaces, structured activity, community support, and opportunities for children to experience normal life even during crisis.
 6. The Importance of Physical Education Work

Physical education is not only sport.
For children and youth affected by war, displacement, fear, and instability, physical activity can support:
  • trauma recovery
  • emotional resilience
  • physical health
  • social inclusion
  • self-confidence
  • teamwork
  • trust
  • mental wellbeing
  • and community rebuilding
Movement, play, sport, and safe adults can help children regain a sense of security and hope.
This is why the project places physical education at the center of humanitarian recovery work.
 7. Importance for Erasmus+ and EU Projects

The project is highly relevant for future EU funding opportunities, especially:
  • Erasmus+
  • Erasmus+ Sport
  • Erasmus+ Youth
  • EU4Health
  • Horizon Europe
  • Creative Europe
  • humanitarian and resilience programmes
The project supports key European priorities:
  • youth wellbeing
  • social inclusion
  • mental health
  • education
  • physical activity
  • recovery after crisis
  • international cooperation
  • children’s rights
  • support for Ukraine
The existing MoU network provides strong evidence that the project is not only a concept, but already has real operational partners in Ukraine.
 8. Importance for Sponsors and Foundations

The project offers sponsors and foundations a meaningful opportunity to support:
  • children in war-affected regions
  • youth wellbeing
  • education
  • humanitarian recovery
  • physical activity
  • community rebuilding
  • Ukraine’s long-term recovery
  • children’s rights
  • international solidarity
Sponsors and foundations can support the project through:
  • financial sponsorship
  • material donations
  • sports equipment
  • educational supplies
  • reconstruction support
  • event support
  • programme funding
  • transport support
  • communication and visibility support
  • long-term partnership agreements
This project provides strong social responsibility value for companies and foundations that want to support children, Ukraine, education, sport, and humanitarian recovery.
 9. Target Groups

The first three years focus especially on:
  • children in the Mykolaiv region
  • youth in the Mykolaiv region
  • children and youth from the Kherson region
  • families with children
  • children affected by war
  • displaced youth
  • special needs children and young people
  • schools and educational institutions
  • community groups
  • sports and physical education institutions
The long-term 2026–2036 vision is to expand the model across Ukraine and connect it with wider European cooperation.
 10. Practical Activities

The project aims to organize:
  • family physical education days
  • children’s physical activity clubs
  • youth movement programmes
  • inclusive physical education activities
  • school cooperation
  • sports events
  • rehabilitation-oriented movement activities
  • community wellbeing events
  • international cooperation meetings
  • training for youth assistant coaches
  • cooperation with schools, sports clubs, libraries, and community organizations
The goal is to create sustainable local activity models that continue beyond individual events.
 11. Material and Reconstruction Support

The project is also seeking support for:
  • sports equipment
  • balls, athletics equipment, mats, cones, training tools
  • clothing and shoes
  • school and youth activity materials
  • safe activity spaces
  • repair and reconstruction of physical education facilities
  • support for school gyms
  • support for outdoor sports areas
  • transport and logistics
  • communication equipment
  • event materials
Material support is especially important because many local institutions in Ukraine are operating under difficult wartime conditions.
 12. Long-Term Vision

The long-term goal is to develop:
EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT

European Children & Youth Physical Education Research & Recovery Centeras an international model for:
  • children’s recovery
  • physical education
  • youth wellbeing
  • humanitarian cooperation
  • trauma-informed support
  • research and development
  • international education cooperation
  • reconstruction through physical activity
This vision aims to create one of Europe’s most unique child-focused physical education and recovery models.
 13. Conclusion

EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT in UKRAINE is more than a physical education project.
It is a long-term humanitarian, educational, and child-rights-based initiative supporting children, youth, families, and communities affected by war.
The project already has:
  • a clear mission
  • an official launch date
  • a first successful public event
  • 14 official MoU partners
  • local Ukrainian cooperation structures
  • international vision
  • and strong relevance for EU, sponsors, and foundations
The urgent need now is funding and support.
With sufficient financial, material, and institutional support, this project can become a powerful long-term model for helping children and youth recover, grow, move, learn, participate, and build hope for the future.

Project SAVE OUR SCHOOLS - S.O.S. in Ukraine

European Children & Youth Physical Education Academy – E.C.Y.P.E.- Academy ry, established on 09.01.2026, wishes to express its deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to our only sponsor of the year 2026, who has chosen to remain anonymous.

Supporting schools and sports clubs in Ukraine is critically important. They are not just institutions or buildings; they are safe spaces for children and young people—places of recovery, growth, dignity, and hope for the future. Physical education provides strength, resilience, community, and a pathway to heal from the psychological and emotional wounds caused by war.
Your quiet yet decisive support reflects a truly compassionate heart, deep responsibility, and genuine care for the future of children and youth. Even though your name is not public, your impact lives on in every child who was given the chance to move, to learn, and to smile—even if only for a brief moment.
On behalf of our entire Academy and all our partners,
thank you for your trust, your humanity, and your courage to help when it matters most.
With profound respect and warm gratitude,

SAVE OUR SCHOOLS - S.O.S.
Picture
The main goal of the project is to build both mental and physical bridges to support schools and clubs amidst the ongoing war.
This is done by establishing partnerships between schools and sports clubs from Europe
Did you know that many schools in Ukraine have been destroyed by the war?
In July 2023, the Ukrainian Ministry of Education reported that over 180 schools were completely destroyed and more than 1,000 schools were damaged. These acts have been committed by Russia – a member of the UN Security Council.

This letter serves as an S.O.S. appeal to all schools and sports clubs in Europe:
Please extend friendship and support to Ukrainian children and youth who wish to continue their education and hobbies – even under bombing and daily danger.

In many areas, students have been forced to switch to remote learning because their schools lack bomb shelters and going outdoors is extremely dangerous due to continuous attacks. Remote learning can be very isolating, which is why every friend – including you – can be a vital source of emotional support.

Children and youth in Ukraine have faced:
  • Physical threats, such as school buildings being destroyed by missiles and bombs
  • Bullying
  • Loss of loved ones

⚠️ This is not a fundraising campaign.
The purpose of this letter is to share contact information with schools and sports clubs interested in participating in concrete peace work by becoming sister schools or partner clubs with Ukrainian counterparts. Together, we can create joint projects, offer material support, and provide emotional encouragement. If sponsors become involved in the project, we will provide official banking details, ensuring that all financial support goes directly to the specific purpose chosen by the donor – for example, educational or sports equipment.
Initial target region: Mykolaiv & Kherson
The first phase of the project focuses on the Mykolaiv & Kherson regions, which has suffered extensive destruction. The region’s water system collapsed after Russia blew up a local dam.
Join us – respond to the S.O.S. appeal!

Message from Angelina Maltseva Paraswimmer from Ukraine.

My name is Angelina Maltseva, and I am an athlete from Ukraine.
I have been professionally involved in swimming since the age of 15, but my love for water appeared much earlier. From childhood, I watched with great admiration athletes who, despite any obstacles, moved toward their goals. They became an example to me of willpower, endurance, and self-belief—proof that the path to a dream can begin in different ways and does not have a single “right” age or starting point.
My journey into professional sport did not begin immediately. In childhood, life circumstances did not allow me to fully realize myself in training; however, this only strengthened my motivation. Over time, I realized that waiting for “ideal conditions” means never starting at all. This understanding became an important lesson for me, and, in my opinion, it is especially valuable for children: it is not circumstances that determine our capabilities, but the decision to move forward. Therefore, as I grew older, I made a conscious decision to turn my dream into reality—step by step, goal by goal, at my own pace.
Sport has become for me not just a physical activity, but a true training ground for discipline, endurance, strength of spirit, and character. It taught me to work on myself every day, even when it would be easier to pause. I became convinced that sport helps children and adolescents believe in their own abilities, learn to accept challenges, and not give up after the first difficulties. Although I believe that I am only at the initial stages of my success, sport has already given me an invaluable treasure: I have become braver, more determined, and more goal-oriented. I learned to understand that results do not come instantly, but are formed through perseverance, patience, and consistent work on oneself. And, importantly, I stopped being afraid of my own pace—in the water, it is always honest. Every training session shapes my character and teaches me that success is a daily process, accessible to everyone who is willing to work.
I sincerely thank the people without whom this journey would not have been possible:
my family—for their support and understanding;
my friends—for their faith in me;
my coaches—for their professionalism, patience, and care, which not only help achieve results, but also show children and young people how important it is to believe in themselves and not be afraid of difficulties.
I would also like to express my special gratitude to Mykolaiv Lyceum No. 60 and its teachers, who invested in me not only knowledge, but also important life values—a desire for self-realization, patriotism, sincerity, and devotion to their country. It was at school that I realized that the combination of education and sport plays a key role in a child’s development, helping to unlock potential, shape character, and prepare for adult life.
Today, I continue my path in sport, convinced of one thing: there are no limits—only the freedom to move forward, one’s own path, and responsibility for one’s choice.
Picture
Anna Hontar and her friend Super Swimmer Lady Angelina Maltseva.
ANNA HONTAR.

My name is Anna. I am from Ukraine. For many years, I have been engaged in professional sports among people with disabilities and have achieved certain accomplishments. But none of this would have been possible without the support of my family, coaches, and teachers. They were the ones who helped me choose my path and gave me the opportunity to believe in myself, to overcome all difficulties and challenges.
It so happened that at the age of five, I began swimming. Sport became an inseparable part of my life. It was not just sport, but a path that shaped me as a person.
First and foremost, sport gives children health and strength. Every training session is work on yourself—on your body and endurance, overcoming limitations. Thanks to this, we gain confidence in our own abilities. Another important quality that sports have developed in me is discipline. To achieve results, you must wake up early, follow a routine, and work even when you have no strength or desire. This quality helps not only in sports but also in studying and in everyday life. Sport also teaches us to fight and not give up. In sports, as in life, there are defeats, but each one makes us stronger and motivates us to move forward.
I would also like to mention the friends and team that children find through sports. Sport gives Ukrainian children the opportunity to communicate with like-minded peers, provides the support of coaches, and instills the belief that together, any difficulty can be overcome. And perhaps most valuable of all—sport gives a young athlete a dream and a goal. It opens before us the world of major competitions and victories, teaches us to strive for the top and never stop.

I also want to express my gratitude to Kherson Gymnasium No. 1, which became one of the most important parts of my life. It not only gives children knowledge in various subjects but also shapes personalities, instills values, and teaches skills necessary for future life. The teachers taught us to analyze, to think critically, to search for solutions, and to apply knowledge in practice. This, in turn, created the foundation for professional development and allowed me to continue my studies at university. It was in the gymnasium that we learned to communicate with peers, work in a team, find friends, overcome conflicts, and collaborate. We were taught what responsibility, honesty, patriotism, and mutual respect mean.

For many of my classmates, school opened the path to sports, creativity, and self-development, helping them to discover and realize their talents. In my case, teachers created the best conditions for combining education and sports.

School has a tremendous impact on the development of a child in Ukraine. It not only provides knowledge but also nurtures, helps shape character, and prepares children for adult life. Sports for children are a school of life that gives strength, resilience, self-confidence, and the opportunity to do what you love, helping you fully reveal your potential. School and sport are two inseparable wings of a child’s development in Ukraine. They are closely connected, as they ensure the harmonious development of personality—intellectual, physical, and spiritual—and influence the future of every child.

With respect,
Anna Hontar

SAVE OUR SCHOOLS – S.O.S. in Ukraine
Immediate Launch of European Cooperation and Project Leadership
The project initiated on 18 April 2025 by the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy (C.Y.P.E.-Academy) enters a new and decisive phase with the immediate launch of cooperation with its newly established European member organization, the European Children & Youth Physical Education Academy – (E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy) ry.

The E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry assumes full leadership of the project in Europe, while the C.Y.P.E.-Academy provides continuous global support, international coordination, expertise, and advocacy at the worldwide level.

This structure strengthens the project’s operational capacity, credibility, and long-term sustainability across Europe and conflict-affected regions.
Together, both organizations stand united in defending children’s fundamental rights, promoting peace through education and sport, and actively opposing terrorism and war crimes, particularly those committed against children, schools, and civilian communities in Ukraine.

Purpose and Objectives of the Project
The main objectives of the project are to:
  • Support physical education and sports opportunities in schools and youth sports clubs in war-affected areas, especially in the Mykolaiv region of Southern Ukraine.
  • Provide psychological and physical well-being for children and youth through safe, structured activities – recognizing that sport and physical education are powerful tools for trauma recovery, resilience, and community rebuilding.
  • Deliver school supplies and sports equipment directly to schools and youth sports organizations in need.
  • Build and communicate a strong message of hope, justice, equality, and human dignity, even while children are living in the midst of armed conflict.
    (EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT)
The project also aims to develop sustainable long-term structures, including the training of local teachers and coaches to work effectively with traumatized children, using child-centered, rights-based, and trauma-informed educational and physical activity methods.
(EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT)

Children’s Rights, Physical Education, and Courage in Conflict Zones

This project is founded on the absolute and non-negotiable principle that children’s rights must be protected at all times, including during war.
Children have the right to safety, education, play, physical activity, and a future free from fear.
Physical education and sport are not secondary activities in conflict zones – they are essential humanitarian tools. They help protect children from exploitation, radicalization, and psychological collapse, while strengthening peace, solidarity, and resistance against violence and terror.

The C.Y.P.E.-Academy and E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry courageously condemn all acts of terrorism and war crimes, especially attacks targeting schools, children, and educational environments in Ukraine.
Through this project, the organizations actively promote international cooperation, civil courage, and joint action against violence and injustice.

🤝 Cooperation Partners SAVE OUR SCHOOLS - S.O.S. in Ukraine & EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT.
The project is implemented in cooperation with multiple stakeholders:
  • Local sports clubs and schools – including the GO FLAMO Athletics Club from Mykolaiv and schools in Snihurivka (Schools No. 1 and 3), which are among the first participating institutions.
    (EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT)
  • International and humanitarian organizations – the project EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT has previously cooperated with organizations such as the United Nations and NATO peacekeeping forces (SFOR, ISAF) in other conflict regions 1998 - 1999 in Bosnia - Hertzegovina & 2005 - 2020 Afghanistan. These international networks also support the implementation of activities in Ukraine.
    (EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT)
  • Sponsors and supporters – the project actively seeks funding partners and supporters from different countries to ensure growth, continuity, and long-term impact.
    (EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT)

👤 Project Coordinator and Background
The Chief Project Coordinator is Timo Virtanen, who also serves as the Director of the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy (C.Y.P.E.-Academy).

EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT
World Children’s and Youth Physical Education Project
History, Courage, and Responsibility – Standing on the Side of Children(Founded on August 21, 1995)

EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT is an international children’s and youth physical education project founded on August 21, 1995. The project was created in response to growing inequality among children and young people around the world—especially in regions where war, crises, poverty, and social instability have stripped children of their fundamental rights.
From the very beginning, the core idea of the project has been simple, strong, and uncompromising:
EVERY CHILD IS IMPORTANT.
EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT.

This principle applies to all children, and especially to:
  • children belonging to special needs groups
  • children traumatized by war
  • internally displaced families
  • children who no longer have a school, a home, or a safe daily life
  • children living in poverty or orphaned situations

Where the Project Began – and Why ?
EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT was born from the understanding that physical education is more than sport.
It is:
  • a fundamental right of the child
  • a foundation for mental and physical well-being
  • peacebuilding in practice
  • a form of resistance against violence, fear, and hopelessness
Physical education gives children:
  • a way to release fear and trauma
  • strength for both body and mind
  • a sense of belonging and community
  • the experience of being seen, valued, and cared for
When a child is allowed to move, play, and experience success, war and violence have not defeated that child.
Where the Project Has Operated ?

For over 30 years, the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project has been implemented primarily in crisis and war zones, including:
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina (1998–1999)
Post-war support for children and youth through physical education
  • Afghanistan (2005–2020)
Long-term work with schools, teachers, children, and local communities
  • Ukraine (2025– )
Supporting children living in war conditions, assisting schools and sports clubs, delivering sports equipment and school supplies, and establishing physical education clubs
The work has always been taken directly to where children live:
  • schools
  • sports clubs
  • local communities
  • temporary shelters and emergency conditions

The Reality of Children in Ukraine Today
Children in Ukraine live under constant uncertainty.
Russia’s ongoing missile and drone attacks are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, including:
  • schools
  • hospitals
  • kindergartens
  • sports facilities
  • homes and energy infrastructure
Thousands of schools have been damaged or destroyed.
Hospitals have been bombed.
Heating, electricity, and water are repeatedly cut off.

In freezing winter conditions, families survive without warmth or security.
This is not accidental.
It is a deliberate attempt to destroy children’s futures before they can even begin.

That is why physical education, schools, and sports clubs in war zones must be protected.
They are often the last places where a child can experience normal life.

Project Coordinator
The founder and long-term coordinator of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project is
Timo Virtanen (Finland).
  • Over 30 years of experience in children’s and youth physical education

His work is based on values, not comfort:
Children’s rights do not disappear in war.

Founder of EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project 21.08.1995
Timo Virtanen
Extended Professional Biography
Timo Virtanen serves as the General Manager of the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy (C.Y.P.E.-Academy), playing a pivotal role in the organization’s international growth, child rights advocacy, and comprehensive strategic development. He exemplifies leadership that combines a strong ethical foundation, a clear vision for child welfare, and an unwavering commitment to humanitarian work in times of crisis and conflict.
Virtanen’s work is grounded in the deep understanding that children’s rights do not uphold themselves—they are realized only when societies, institutions, international organizations, and policymakers take responsibility and act decisively. Throughout his career, he has emphasized that children’s safety, education, and well-being are always measures of how civilized and humane our world truly is.

Timo Virtanen
Leadership Rooted in Principles and Courage

As General Manager of C.Y.P.E.-Academy, Virtanen is known for his consistent, principled, and forthright approach. He does not shy away from highlighting issues related to child mistreatment, violence, war crimes, or violations of international agreements. He is among the few child rights leaders willing to publicly state what many think but few dare to say: the world’s leading organizations must be held to higher standards, and defending children’s rights cannot rely on political compromises.
Virtanen believes that child welfare is not a matter of political opinion—it is an obligation that no nation or international actor can neglect. Under his leadership, the organization has gained international recognition for its courageous and ethically consistent decision-making.
Picture
International Advocacy for Children’s Rights
Virtanen represents C.Y.P.E.-Academy in numerous international forums addressing children’s rights, education, protection, and the physical and psychological development of youth. His key focus areas include:
  • Protecting children in armed conflict zones
  • Ensuring continuity of education during wars and crises
  • Securing civilian facilities such as schools and hospitals
  • Strengthening children’s physical education, exercise, and mental resilience
  • Developing international monitoring mechanisms for investigating war crimes against children
  • Increasing the international community’s responsibility for child safety
Virtanen emphasizes that the world must respond swiftly and decisively when children are exposed to violence, bombings, deliberate attacks, and trauma. In his view, children are not collateral damage—they are always the most innocent victims of war.
Focus on Holistic Child Development
C.Y.P.E.-Academy’s work is built on the understanding that a child’s well-being encompasses physical, psychological, and social dimensions. Under Virtanen’s leadership, the organization develops programs that:
  • Provide children with a safe and encouraging environment for physical activity and sports
  • Support children’s psychological resilience and trauma recovery
  • Strengthen children’s personal skills and self-confidence
  • Enhance the resilience of schools, communities, and families in crisis areas
  • Bring international attention to the implementation of children’s rights
  • Support the recovery of children and youth from war-related psychological injuries

Virtanen highlights that physical activity is not merely a wellness tool—it can be one of the most powerful means for trauma recovery, community building, and fostering inner strength in children.

A Strong Voice for Children in Conflict
Virtanen has established a clear role in the international child rights arena: he is the leader who speaks out about children’s suffering in wartime and demands concrete measures to prevent it. He consistently emphasizes that children’s deaths and injuries are not “unavoidable consequences of war” but direct violations of international law.
He stresses that international passivity is in itself a failure. Virtanen states:
“If we do not act when children are dying, we lose the right to call ourselves humane.”This principle guides all his work.
Values-Based and Responsible Leadership

Virtanen’s leadership rests on four foundational pillars:
1. The Best Interests of the Child as a Guiding PrincipleAll decisions, partnerships, and initiatives are evaluated on whether they serve the best interests of children.
2. Transparency and Ethics E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry  exemplifies that work on behalf of children must be transparent and aligned with international values.
3. Courage and Agency Virtanen does not merely condemn wrongs—he demands action to end them.
4. International Responsibility He builds extensive partnerships that strengthen global protection for children, especially those living in conflict or violence.
Timo Virtanen – A Voice for the Voiceless
Virtanen’s work at E.C.Y.P.E.-Academy ry goes beyond administration or organizational leadership—it is a personal mission. At the heart of his values lies deep humanity and genuine concern for the fate of children worldwide. He believes the world changes only when someone speaks for those who cannot defend themselves.
Therefore, the organization he leads operates under the principle:
“Children First – No Compromises.”
Virtanen continues to build systems that ensure children have the right to live, grow, and develop regardless of the circumstances around them.
His goal is clear: no child should be left alone—neither in war, poverty, violence, nor neglect.

Chairperson’s Message – Rukh i Sertse Physical Education Guide
Dear friends, educators, coaches, and all who care deeply for the children and youth of Ukraine,
It is a profound honor and heartfelt joy to greet you as we present the Rukh i Sertse – Physical Education Guide. This guide is not just a collection of exercises or instructions – it is a labor of love, created to bring the joy of movement, a sense of safety, and moments of success to every child and young person in Ukraine, no matter their age, abilities, or circumstances.

Rukh i Sertse symbol.

MOVEMENT is energy.
The greatest source of energy around us is the SUN. Without the Sun, there is no movement.
And at the center of the
Sun is the most important muscle – the HEART, which is also the most important muscle within each of us.
The Sun and the Heart symbolize strength, life, hope, courage, and unity. They remind us that every child and every young person carries an inner light and the power of the heart – even in the darkest and most challenging times.
I want to emphasize especially the rights of children. Every child has the right to move, to play, to learn, to grow, and to feel that they belong to a community. Every child has the right to hope. Physical education is not only about sport – it is about well-being, mental health, inclusion, equality, and safe adults standing beside children. It is about creating spaces where children feel valued, protected, and heard.
For this reason, each cooperating physical education club will have its own club emblem. The children and young people of each club, together with their teachers, instructors, and coaches, will design their own symbol.
When a child is allowed to participate, their voice is heard.
When a young person can influence decisions, their courage grows.
When a community creates together, belonging becomes stronger.

And belonging creates resilience. Resilience creates hope. Hope builds the future.
This is exactly what every Ukrainian child and young person needs in these painful and challenging circumstances: strength, connection, dignity, and belief in tomorrow.

Rukh i Sertse
What makes this work truly historic is that it has been created under extraordinary and challenging conditions. Even as schools, family homes, children’s hospitals, daycare centers, and sports facilities face destruction from Russian bombings, the Rukh i Sertse team continues to plan, design, and build this guide for the children and youth of Ukraine. Every contributor to this guide works with courage, dedication, and unwavering belief in the future of Ukrainian children, despite the dangers and hardships surrounding us.
I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all the educators, coaches, specialists, and volunteers who have devoted their expertise, time, and love to this project. Your work gives children the opportunity to move, to experience joy, to grow in confidence, and to develop the skills that will carry them through life. This guide is a testament to the power of collaboration, hope, and resilience – proof that together, we can create safe and inspiring spaces for every child, even in the darkest times.
Rukh i Sertse is more than a guide – it is a promise to Ukrainian children and youth: You are important. You have the right to move. You have the right to joy. You have the right to be heard.
To all those working tirelessly to bring this guide to life: your courage, passion, and determination are shaping the future of Ukraine. Together, we are not only teaching physical education – we are building resilience, hope, and opportunity for generations to come.
Thank you for believing in children, for believing in the power of movement, and for believing in a brighter, stronger, and safer future for Ukraine’s youth. Your dedication changes lives – and together, we will continue to make a difference, one child at a time.
With deepest respect and gratitude,
